Her Closet Vol. 1: Kayla Wong (王曼喜) & The Art of Choosing Well
Share
Her Closet Vol. 1 - KAYLA WONG
The Wild Lot (@the.wildlot)
『Buy less, choose well, make it last.』(少買,優選,延續。)
One of the most common questions we get is: "Where do you collect your clothes?" The answer is simple. We collect them from people all around this city—people just like you and me.
Today, we are thrilled to kick off our new series with a story that truly inspires us.
Her Closet Vol. 1 - KAYLA WONG
Kayla Wong is a powerhouse: an LGBTQ activist, the founder of the ethical slow fashion brand Basics For Basics (@basicsforbasics), and the creative director behind the hybrid creative space, The Wild Lot (@the.wildlot).
She has always been a vocal advocate for environmental protection, especially within the fashion industry where her profession lies. She is a role model who shares the deep values we hold at Greenies. It is my absolute honor to feature her in our very first edition of Shop Her Closet.
"Is there anything you would like to share with other Greenies out there?"
"Here are a few thoughts on my journey. Since I started in sustainable fashion, there is one motto I always stick to, famously said by Vivienne Westwood:
'Buy less, choose well, make it last.'
It might sound cliché, but honestly, it is the best way to live sustainably in any aspect of life. It’s about focusing on quality and investing in pieces that are well-made—pieces that hold meaning for you."
You can now shop her brand (@basicsforbasics), as well as pre-loved items from her personal closet and many others at Greenies. Join us in reducing the city's textile waste, one item at a time.
