The Truth About Our Brand List: Why We Reject Clothes (And Why That’s Changing)

Today, we are addressing the elephant in the room. It is a slightly controversial topic: The Brand List.

If you have consigned with us recently, you know we have specific criteria for the brands we accept. But it wasn't always this way. Here is the honest story of why we introduced the list—and the good news about how it is expanding.

1. Growing Pains (August 2023)

When Greenies first started, our policy was simple: "We take everything." We wanted to save as many clothes as possible.

But by August 2023, we faced a real crisis. We were receiving so many clothes that we simply couldn't process them fast enough. We were forced to pause our pick-up services periodically just to clear the backlog. We realized that if we tried to save everything, we would end up saving nothing because our operations would collapse.

2. Quality Control = Better Circulation

To keep our service stable, we made the tough decision to introduce Brand List. We set different commission rates to encourage high-quality, high-demand items.

This wasn't about being "snobby." It was about Liquidity. By focusing on popular brands that sell quickly, we could:

  • Keep our warehouse space moving.
  • Ensure sellers get paid faster.
  • Change the perception of secondhand clothes in Hong Kong by ensuring high quality.

3. The Good News: Uniqlo is Back!

Our long-term goal has always been to remove the Brand List entirely. And today, we are taking a step towards that.

We are happy to announce that we have re-opened acceptance for UNIQLO and select Korean Fashion items. As our processing capacity improves, we can start accepting these high-volume categories again.

We are doing this step-by-step. "Slowly but surely."
